The Gingerbread House Decorating Contest is a cherished tradition at Miracle on 7th Street, inviting participants of all ages and backgrounds to show off their creativity and holiday spirit! Each year, the contest showcases incredible displays, where everything from frosty winter wonderlands to colorful candy creations take center stage. The event offers a festive experience for both participants and spectators, adding an extra dose of holiday cheer to downtown Terre Haute.

  • Contest Details

    Participants in the Gingerbread House Decorating Contest have the chance to create their very own gingerbread masterpiece. Upon registration, each participant receives a gingerbread house kit as a starting point. From there, the only limit is imagination!

    The contest is open to individuals, teams, and children, making it accessible to everyone who wants to join in on the fun. Each creation is displayed at Miracle on 7th Street, allowing the public to enjoy the variety and creativity in every entry.

  • How To Enter

    To join the contest, participants need to complete a registration form, pay the $25 entry fee, and pick up their gingerbread house kit at the Vigo County History Center. Spots are limited, so early registration is recommended!

  • Judging & Awards

    udges will evaluate each gingerbread house based on several criteria, including originality, theme, craftsmanship, and use of materials. The contest includes the following award categories:

    1st Place: Best Overall Design

    2nd Place: Runner-Up

    People’s Choice: Voted by the public

    In addition to our official judging, the “People’s Choice” award invites festival-goers to cast their votes for their favorite creation, adding an interactive element to the contest.
